Francis Sprout, artist /art historian was born in Tucson, Arizona. He received a B.F.A. from the University of Arizona, an M.F.A. from the University of California, San Diego, and an M.A. in African Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles.
He taught at the University of Denver and was a tenured professor at Metropolitan State College in Denver. In New York he taught at Purchase College, Pratt Institute, and Manhattanville College. Examples of his work are in collections at Arizona State University, the Neuberger Museum of Art and many corporate and private collection.
Currently he maintains a studio and exhibits at the Admiralty Gallery in Vero Beach, Florida.
